Letchworth Garden City.......

The biggest chunk of my life has been spent living in or near Letchworth Garden City in Hertfordshire. Fate took me to live there and it's where I had my children and watched them grow up. Over the 20+ years that I lived there it worked its magic and I have grown to love it a great deal. It’s a distinctly notable place. For it's history certainly – I’d never lived in a town that had been planned but in places that have organically grown through time, necessity and and population growth. Ebenezer Howard was quite a chap - a hero of mine in the vision he had for establishing a place that town and country met for the benefit of the people that lived in the garden city. And that vision has gone on to make further new towns and garden cities both old and very new happen in this country and across the world. I think it’s probably the nearest to living in a utopia as you can get.

It’s also the place where I made my very first architectural based pieces. With two solo exhibitions in the town, countless commissions and work that spans the last 10 years – I have made lots of collages which celebrate the wonderfully beautiful buildings and views of Letchworth Garden City.
