A massive thank you to the 1,810 people (children and adults of all ages) that came to see me and come to the events I was running at the museum and in the community. It was a fabulous number of visitors and I loved meeting you all!

I have been running monthly tutored drawing classes for adults in the residency studio, drawing from lovely objects I have collected and from the museums collection. THESE SESSIONS ARE FULLY BOOKED.

Every 1st Saturday of the month until March 2024, I am running creative sessions for families at the National Civil War Centre. These are a whole range of lovely mini papery projects suitable for all the family. Come and make some amazing things to take home! Scroll through to see what we have been making!

This collaborative art piece is inspired by the fantastic 17th century fireguard that is on show in the Newark Museum galleries and on loan from the V&A. It features a beautiful flowing tree design that depicts the oak tree that Charles II hid in at Boscobel House in Shropshire. It had been made by all the visitors to my residency studio taking part by cutting out and applying a sticky vinyl leaf to make a colourful tree! The vinyl is scrap: rescued from landfill.

This four metre long banner is another collaborative collective art piece that I ‘ve made with everyone that has visited the residency. Inspired by the 17th century gingerbread mould on show in the studio, I made stencils of the king and queen designs on the mould and printed onto a heavy white cotton. We added a riot of colour and pattern using some vibrant fabric pens and it will go on show in the museum shortly!

During the residency I have been busy delivering workshops out in the community for a sight loss group, Nottinghamshire Mind, a local care home, a men’s breakfast club and a craft club too. I have met so many wonderful people and heard their fascinating stories!

I have run lots of creative sessions over the two Half Term’s during the residency. Have a look at our fantastic paper houses, trees and a really big River Trent. I designed lots of paper projects that all ages could be part of by making and designing, giving all ages the space and freedom to be truly creative and part of collecting art making.

I have made new works based on a “Marvellous Miscellany” inspired by the objects I have chose from the museum collection. This included William Nicholson Woodcuts, a 17th century Gingerbread mould and golden Unite coins from the time of James l and Charles l. I made large scale papercuts, and printed onto some beautiful heavy weight linen.
